Contract Underwriter

Job Type and Location:

Full-time, in-office position located in Houston, Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate the financial stability and risk profiles of potential clients by analyzing credit reports, financial statements, and other relevant documents.
  • Contract Evaluation: Review and assess solar energy contracts to ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, legal, and finance departments to ensure that contracts are executed smoothly and align with company objectives.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure that all contracts adhere to the latest standards and legal requirements.
  • Decision Making: Make informed underwriting decisions, balancing risk with business objectives, and provide clear recommendations to management.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough records of all underwriting activities, including risk assessments, contract evaluations, and final decisions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, law, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience, preferably within the energy or solar sector.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in underwriting, risk management, or contract law are preferred.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with solar energy contracts, risk assessment techniques, and regulatory compliance within the energy sector.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in underwriting software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
